What to put in your email
- Your phone model and the app version (Settings, Version).
- The system on your computer (Linux, macOS or Windows) and your Herdr version.
- What you tapped, what you expected and what happened. A screenshot helps.
Please don't send private keys, passwords or tokens. I never need them.
Common questions
The app can't connect to my computer
Check that the computer is awake and its SSH server is on, and that your phone can reach it: on the same network, or through Tailscale when you're away. The connection card in the app shows the reason and a fix when a check fails.
Pairing with the QR code
Copy the pairing command from the app and run it in a terminal on your computer. It downloads the pairing script, checks its SHA-256 checksum against the one built into the app and only then runs it. On Linux and macOS the script needs OpenSSH 8.2 or newer and python3. The code works once and expires after five minutes, so run the command again if it has expired.
On Windows, choose Windows on the pairing screen and paste the command into PowerShell. It needs the Windows OpenSSH Server (8.2 or newer) and no extra installs. If your account is an administrator, run PowerShell as administrator, because OpenSSH reads administrators' keys from C:\ProgramData\ssh\administrators_authorized_keys.
My agents don't show up
The fleet, chat and approval cards need Herdr running on the computer under the same user you connect as. Without Herdr, the terminal still works.
Unpairing a phone
On Linux or macOS, list the paired phones and revoke one with the pairing script:
sh pair.sh list
sh pair.sh revoke SHA256:…
On Windows, the same in PowerShell, in the folder where you saved pair.ps1:
powershell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\pair.ps1 list
powershell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\pair.ps1 revoke SHA256:…
You can also delete the phone's line (it ends with phone: and the phone's name) from ~/.ssh/authorized_keys.
Restoring a purchase
In the app, open Settings, then Full version, and tap Restore purchase. It works on a phone signed in to the same Google Play or App Store account you bought with. A purchase on Google Play doesn't carry over to the App Store, or the other way round.
Refunds
Payments go through the store, so refunds do too. For Google Play, request it from your order history in Google Play. For the App Store, use Apple's Report a Problem page. If you're stuck, write to me and I'll help.
Deleting your data
Mussh has no accounts and keeps no data on servers of its own. Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored on the phone. To remove the phone's access, revoke its key on your computer as shown above. Details are in the privacy policy.
